HTC Desire Apps – LED me know
The HTC Desire models have a very simple thing in common: They own a so called “notification light“. Newer devices often don’t own it, but those who do can notify the user with a simple LED light in various situations. You get an email, SMS or whatever but don’t want to unlock your phone, just to know if you have received something yet? That’s exactly what the notification light is good for. However, for instance the popular Handcent SMS application seemed to patched its notification-light-function away.
For such situations or others, the free application LED me know enables you to configure notifications in the way you want. Color, blinking-speed, acoustic signals and many other things are definable.
However, sounds pretty cool in theory, in praxis it is not always working. The developer explicitly says that only the HTC Desire [Bravo] with Android 2.2 (FroYo) is officially supported. I tried it with the HTC Desire [Bravo] with Android 2.3.7 and 4.0.3. At first it was not really working, but when playing around with the “compability mode” it started working.
I like it, but there is some room for improvements. 3 out of 5 points from me for that.
